Setting up an event registration in a sophisticated system, like Association Anywhere, can often involve a lot of back and forth between technology and client teams, creating ample opportunity for late delivery. At AH, the technology team struggled to deliver two event registration projects on time late last year. Both projects were late by a month — which for a two or three month scheduled project can be huge.
The National Association of Professional Organizers’ (NAPO) board identified and discussed the technology challenges of the NAPO website and database, including the prohibition of member-related programs or initiatives. Due to the lack of functionality, members needed to have access to more “self-serve” options to allow them to access the information they needed when they needed it. The current outdated system was not user-friendly and was becoming cost-prohibitive to operate. In addition, the lack of functionality led to member and prospective member frustration, resulting in an increase in phone calls and emails.
The introduction of smartphones and tablets has changed the way people access the Web. Instead of just sitting at our desks and browsing the Web via personal computers or even laptops, end users can access the Web from anywhere, at any time via cellular and wifi connections all over the world. For existing, older websites, this can create problems. Older websites are built to look great on a 19-inch screen, and look alright on a 15-inch screen. But what about a tablet or phone?
